This meeting is sponsored by Complete Healthcare Solutions (CHS).
‘Te manaaki i ō tātao tāngata — Protecting our people (care and wellbeing).’
This presentation will encourage participants to think about three topics associated with the care and wellbeing patients, and we will have time for discussion of these topics.
Together we will review aspects of the NZDA Code of Practice: Child Protection, in particular, practical aspects related to employing a clinician, or being employed as a clinician caring for children. Related to this; we will explore aspects of informed consent, with a focus on the dentist’s role in determining competence to give consent. Finally, we will explore our responsibilities in protecting our people when using AI Scribes in dental practice.
Participants should be able to:
- Recognise people requiring special care to maintain their wellbeing, and know what actions enhance or reduce wellbeing
- Recognise signs of child abuse and know what actions to take to facilitate child protection
- Understand informed consent and implementation in practice, and be confident in identifying a person’s capacity to provide informed consent
- Competently describe the use of AI Scribes in dental practice and be able to articulate and put into practice safeguards for protecting practitioners and patients when using this new technology.
