Dr. Sarah Castle - Psychiatrist
Mind the Gap: Supporting Neurodiverse Youth in the Dental Chair
In this session, Consultant Child and Adolescent psychiatrist Sarah Castle offers a practical and empathetic overview of neurodiversity—covering common diagnoses such as ADHD and autism—through the lens of behavioural patterns and medical treatment. With insights into how medication and tailored communication strategies can shape patient cooperation, this talk explores ways to enhance dental experiences for both neurodiverse patients and their clinicians. Dentists will come away with actionable tools to reduce stress, improve outcomes, and foster trust with young patients who think and feel differently.
